These last three pictures show how I am today. I post them here so that people can better understand why I am campaigning for more accessible toilets and seating. Not all disabled people use wheelchairs but some of us do have mobility problems with which we struggle on a daily basis. Better and more considerate design of public and domestic spaces, facilities and seating areas is required to cater for the needs of all.
Totally agree with the toilet thing – I generally use the disabled toilets because of the higher seats and handrails, but even then it can be a struggle during flares. I’ve also had people glare at me because maybe I don’t look obviously disabled (same with my blue badge!) but hey ho, that’s a different story. How old were you (ish ;-) ) in 1985? 63 years? – You deserve a medal! x
In 1985, and when I had the surgery, I was 38/39 years old. I hope to be 65 later this year ;)
